Two cars - one of them reported stolen more than 100 miles away - destroyed by fires in Shropshire

Two cars were destroyed by fire in incidents in Shropshire overnight.

Fire crews were scrambled to Curriers Lane, Shifnal, at 8.27pm on Wednesday to a report of a car fire.

One fire engine was mobilised from Telford Central and the crew found one vehicle fully involved in fire. Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

The police were also on the scene and the fire service sent their stop message at 9.05pm.

West Mercia Police said officers were called to a report of a vehicle fire on Curriers Lane in Shifnal at around 8.50pm. A spokesperson said that enquiries are ongoing.

A second car fire saw a vehicle '100 per cent destroyed' in a blaze before 3am on Thursday.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Police were called to a report of a vehicle fire on County Lane in Albrighton at around 3.35am this morning (Thursday 21 November). 

"The car was previously reported stolen from the Bedfordshire policing area."

One fire appliance was scrambled from Albrighton to the scene.

A fire service spokesperson said crews used two hose reel jets to put out the blaze.

The fire service stop message was received at 3.04am.
