As snowfall blanketed the region and large parts of the UK, communities have been treated to scenes of snow-covered hills and picturesque town and village streets.

But, while the snow did provide ample opportunity to get the camera out and capture some stunning photos, it also led to widespread disruptions, including school closures and travel delays.

Although the cold weather is expected to end moving into the weekend, and temperatures are expected to rise back towards the teens, the Met Office has issued yellow and amber weather warnings for the UK, warning of ice and snow, and heavy rain as Storm Bert sweeps across the country.

Some residents have been able to embrace the beauty of the rare November snowfall and many children whose schools were closed enjoyed winter activities including building snowmen, sledging, and taking scenic walks in the snow-covered countryside.
