Driver, 35, arrested after man left 'critical' in hospital with head injury in Telford street attack

A Ford Fiesta driver has been arrested on suspicion of seriously assaulting another motorist in Wellington - who is now in a critical condition in hospital.

West Mercia Police have said they have arrested a 35-year-old man, who is alleged to have attacked a man in his 50s in Haygate Road yesterday at around 3.50pm.

The injured man, who was driving a silver Citroen Picasso, is in hospital with a serious head injury.

The suspect, who was driving a blue Fiesta, was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody as the police investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant Osman Malik, from Telford’s reactive CID team, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident as it can help us with our investigation.

“We are particularly keen to speak to a number of witnesses who stopped to help the victim, as if they haven’t already spoken to us, may have information that can assist with our enquiries.”
