The site on North Road, which has been unoccupied since 2006, was formally the pupil referral unit, Wrekin Endeavour Centre. In 2022, the single-storey building was demolished due to safety fears.

Now, the housing association, GreenSquareAccord, has applied for permission to build 40 new affordable residential homes on the site.

If approved, the development would be made up of six one-bed apartments, 24 two-bed apartments, four two-bed houses and six three-bed houses.

The apartments would be split into two three-storey buildings on the northern half of the site, with the two-storey houses located towards the south.
