An application for outline planning permission to build nine new homes on the land to the north of Winston Fields in Tetchill near Ellesmere was submitted to Shropshire Council in September.

The plans came under fire from residents, who argued the small village did not have the amenities to support more housing.

At the end of October, they were rejected by Shropshire Council planning officers, who ruled that the scheme was in a "unsustainable location for development" and that it would be an "unacceptable encroachment into open countryside".

Now, the outline scheme is back before the planning department, with changes that the developers hope will "overcome and rebut" the previous reasons for refusal.
