Scores of residents have contacted Chirbury and Worthen councillor Heather Kidd and Churchstoke elected member Danny Bebb over 'poor wifi' on their respective sides of the Shropshire/Mid Wales border.
Councillor Heather Kidd said: “Since taking over a local company, Voneus seems to have taken its eye off the wifi ball in favour of fibre broadband connections.
“Fibre is great but it will take a while for it to get to all areas and it is no good for people who rely on a signal.
“This is no longer a luxury - residents rely on it.”
Councillor Bebb said “I have many residents with similar complaints too. Cross-border working is essential: I live in Powys and my signal comes from a mast in Shropshire.
“I have others near me who get their signals from two other Shropshire masts. It makes no sense to separate us out and 'divide and rule'.”
Councillor Kidd said that previously if there was a breakdown it was fixed quickly by a local team, but that seems to have changed.
