If approved, the new building would be constructed on the disused car park in Wellington, between the Glebe Centre and the new 67-home housing estate on Glebe Street that is currently under construction.

The plans, submitted by Dyanne Humphreys Planning on behalf of Mrs Sandra Allsop, show a two-and-a-half-storey apartment block, made up of nine, one-bedroom apartments.

There are also plans to provide 12 car parking spaces for residents and visitors, and five cycle spaces.

The application argues the plans are "well considered and proportionate" and would provide "a definite enhancement of an empty modern carpark."

Plans to build 12 apartments were submitted in June last year, but withdrawn after concerns were raised by several residents and Telford & Wrekin Council's Built Heritage Conservation team.

At the time, the team said the proposed apartment block was "considered to be of an excessive height and mass".

Outline planning permission for eight apartments on the former car park was approved in September, with council planning officers calling the revised proposals "far more acceptable than those in the original application".

But the approval notice stated there were still reservations that eight apartments would be an over-development of the area, and that the building could intrude on the privacy of neighbours.
