Emergency services rush to shop fire in Market Drayton town centre - police treating incident as arson

Police are treating a fire at a Market Drayton shop as arson and making enquiries.

Emergency services were called to a shop on Shropshire Street at around 12.45am after a fire within the doorway of a premises.

Three fire crews from Hodnet, Prees and Market Drayton fire stations were sent to the scene. Land ambulance and the police also attended the incident.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and covering jet to extinguish the fire "involving the doorway of the shop".

The SRFS incident log reported that all persons were accounted for. 

Crews also used a thermal imaging camera to make the scene safe.

The incident concluded at 1.42am.
