Penybont Young Farmer’s Club’s After Dark Tractor Run will return on Sunday, December 22, bringing festive fun and raising money for charity.

The event has become hugely popular after first being held in 2021.

This year it will raise money for two charities – the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the DPJ Foundation.

The event has provided a lot of festive fun in the last three years, with tractors decorated with lights and baubles.

The run this year will start from Crossgates Primary School, with everyone meeting at 3pm and setting off at 4.30pm. Refreshments will be available from Crossgates PTA

There will be prizes for the best decorated tractor and this year the YFC have invited children to decorate their own sit on tractors

The three previous tractor runs have raised over £5,000 on each occasion.

“The MND Assocation is a charity which is very important to the club and is a charity we want to continue to raise money for so that they can continue to support those who need it,” said a club spokesman.

“Motor Neurone Disease is a rare condition affecting the brain and nerves. It happens when cells in the brain and nerves, called motor neurones, gradually stop working. It’s not known why this happens.

“The DPJ Foundation is a charity which is particularly important to us living in a rural area. The foundation supports people in the agricultural sector in Wales with poor mental health.

“The DPJ Foundation educates and informs people about mental health, provides support not only to those dealing with poor mental health, but also to their families, friends and colleagues and runs a 24/7 confidential support line called ‘Share the Load’.

“The money raised from our tractor run can help them provide a number of services.

Tractor entries for this year’s run are £10.
