Emergency services were called to the property on Shropshire Street at around 12.45am today (December 19).
Firefighters from Hodnet, Market Drayton and Prees fire stations used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and covering jet to extinguish the fire, situated within the doorway of the shop.
West Mercia Police is treating the incident as arson, and said officers are keen to identify two men who were seen in the area at the time, wearing dark-coloured tracksuits, and who left in the direction of the town centre.
Inspector Mark Musgrove said: "We are treating the fire as arson with intent to endanger life, and conducting a number of enquiries, to identify those responsible.
"Fortunately, no-one was injured during the fire but significant damage was caused to the shop.
"Anyone with information is urged to call 01743 264807.
"Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers, online or by calling 0800 555 111."
A West Midlands Ambulance Service statement added: "We were called to a private address on Shropshire Street, Market Drayton at 1.02am. We sent a paramedic officer to the scene. There were no patients found at the scene, and we were stood down."
