Supermarket workers in Telford raise £8,000 for charity with cycle-athon

Supermarket workers in Telford have raised £8,000 for charity by taking part in a 1,264-mile cycle-athon.

Colleagues from Aldi stores in Telford took part in the charity event to raise funds for the supermarket's dedicated charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust.

A total of 150 Aldi workers took turns during one day to complete the challenge, with bikes and donation points set up in stores around the area for customers to donate.

Aldi first partnered with Teenage Cancer Trust in 2017, and supermarket workers and customers have since helped to raise more than £10 million for the charity.

Aldi has also recently raised its fundraising goal, hoping to raise £15 million by 2027.

Managing director of Aldi’s Dawley region, Mary Dunn said: "We are so proud of our colleagues in Telford for taking on this challenge and helping to raise vital funds for this incredible cause. A big thank you too to our customers who got behind them, whether that be cheering them on in store or sponsoring their efforts.

"Teenage Cancer Trust provides invaluable care and guidance to young people who are in such difficult situations and the work they do cannot be underestimated."
