The Shrewsbury Sausage Social Dog Walk for dachshunds took place in the Quarry today (Sunday, December 22), with around 60 pooches running amok.
Among them was Miley, whose owner Susie Thompson created a home made pigs in blankets costume for the occasion in Shrewsbury.
There were also dogs dressed up as Santa Claus and in Christmas jumpers as owners and pets braved the windy weather.
The walk was supposed to take place a couple of weekends ago, but stormy weather and flooding in the Quarry put paid to plans.
However, they were not to be deterred this time. Organiser Paula Costin said: “We had about 60 dogs which is pretty good considering how close it is to Christmas. Everybody enjoyed it.
“There were lots of dogs dressed up and looking good.
“We had to cancel it earlier in the month because the bottom of the Quarry was filling up with water, but we couldn’t cancel it altogether.
“There was a lady who made a costume which looked like strips of bacon to make ‘pigs in blankets’ which looked great.
“Some people made their own costumes and others just bought Christmas jumpers, but they all looked really good.
“The dogs really seemed to enjoy it as well. You see some of them that look a bit nervous at the start but then they’re really relaxed at the end. They (dachshunds) are dogs that like company.”
Shrewsbury Sausage Social tend to have around four walks a year in the Quarry - in spring, in summer, at Halloween and before Christmas.
