Jamie and Ryan Smart travelled over from Leicester to carry out the burglary at a house near Newport at around 2.30pm on November 22 with a third, unknown person. They smashed patio doors at the back of the property to gain entry.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard the pair, who have over 80 previous convictions between them including for burglary dwelling, were seen on footage from a camera at the property and were there for less than five minutes.

They were stopped the next day on the M40 and arrested, with Ryan Smart, who was already banned from driving, behind the wheel.
