Staff at Shropshire organisation honoured with Kindness Awards
Dozens of staff have been recognised for their work and kindness across an organisation.
This year’s Shropdoc’s Kindness Awards recognised dozens of staff across the organisation, as teams across the Shropshire and Powys sites embraced the chance to nominate and share kind words about their colleagues.
The Shropdoc Kindness Awards are an annual initiative inspired by World Kindness Week, where those at Shropdoc celebrate all things linked with kindness for seven days.
Other events during this year’s Kindness Week included Kindness Bingo and Random Acts of Kindness, which ensured kindness was spread across the organisation and community in many forms, including love, understanding, compassion and empathy.
The Shropdoc core values, which underpin everything the organisation does, are Community, Integrity, Development, Kindness and Quality, and the teams that work within the organisation aim to “keep the patients at the heart” of all that they do.
Sarah Paine, HR Business Partner at Shropdoc, said recognising and celebrating the contributions of Shropdoc individuals and teams to live and uphold Shropdoc’s values and achieve their patient-centric focus was paramount.
She said: “There were some wonderful comments about why kindness is such an integral value to Shropdoc teams and individuals, and we had kindness nominations from across the whole organisation, including head office, call centre, medical practice, hospitals and bases.
"This goes to show that it is the individuals who make Shropdoc such a fantastic organisation to work for."
“Some staff were also nominated for other values linked with our kindness value, such as integrity or community and receiving an award was a very moving experience for many staff - we even had a few happy tears!”
Among the award winners was Chrissla Davies, nominated for warmth and good humour.
“Chrissla’s warmth and compassionate approach to all things, but most notably her approach to leadership, are quite unique and reflect the wellbeing and relaxed and happy nature of her workforce," the nomination said.
Holly Robinson was put forward for an award because “since starting here at Shropdoc, Holly has gone above and beyond - there is no challenge too big for Holly, and we really appreciate everything she does here at Shropdoc”.
Kathy Wood’s nomination was for being “supportive, encouraging, friendly, positive, kind, caring” and for “going above and beyond” while Katie Sadler was nominated for “making everyone laugh and always being so lovely and smiley - her kindness is infectious”.
Also nominated for going above and beyond was Carla Shinton, who is “always there to help”, and Sarah Paine, who “ensures ourselves and managers feel supported and always builds kindness into any situation we come across”.
There were also nominations for those who had supported others in difficult times - something our teams here at Shropdoc are incredibly good at, both with each other and with patients.
Cheryl McGlynn was nominated for being “an amazing lady who has shown compassion, kindness and support to me through a difficult time.”
In total, 50 individuals and seven teams were nominated for an award - with 89 total nominations, and each award winner was given a Shropdoc Kindness Award certificate and a small prize.
Prizes were kindly donated by Shropdoc, Tesco, Morrisons and Varanasi Indian Restaurant, based in Birmingham.
