Two women taken to hospital with serious injuries after car flips onto roof in crash near Much Wenlock

Emergency services were called to a road junction near Much Wenlock after a crash in which two women were seriously injured.

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 6.55pm on Sunday reporting the incident on Harley Hill. 

Crews were sent from Much Wenlock, Shrewsbury and Wellington fire stations to the scene. 

An ambulance crew and police also attended. 

The collision involved two vehicles. One car had rolled onto its roof.

One casualty was 'medically trapped' within a vehicle, the fire service said. 

Firefighters assisted the casualty by using cutters to remove the side of the car.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said two women, the driver and passenger in the car, were assessed and had sustained serious injuries.

Both were taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. 

A West Mercia Police statement said: "Officers were called to a collision on Harley Hill in Shropshire yesterday at around 7pm following a car had rolled onto its roof. 

"Two people were treated for injuries by ambulance crew and taken to hospital. No arrests made."

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson added: "We were called to a road traffic collision involving an overturned car on the A458 junction Harley, in Shrewsbury at 6.49pm.

"Two ambulances attended the scene. Upon arrival we found two women who were the driver and passenger in the car. Both were assessed and had sustained serious injuries. They received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment."
