'Merry Christmas' Telford shoplifter tells magistrates as he gets conditional discharge for his crimes of 'desperation'
A 'desperate' homeless man who went on a one day shoplifting spree was handed a conditional discharge by magistrates who heard him make an impassioned plea.

Edwardo Andre Montero told Telford Magistrates Court that he was “not a bad boy” but had stolen 'necessities' after he stole stock from shops in Telford on November 26, 2024.
Montero, aged 32, of Beaconsfield, in Brookside, Telford, pleaded guilty to three counts of shoplifting and one attempted shoplifting when he appeared at court on Christmas Eve.
The court was told that he had been caught when he attempted to steal an £8 bottle of wine from Marks and Spencer.
One pair of boxer shorts and one pair of black socks, to the value of £38 belonging to NEXT, a 18-24 month baby girl coat and a phone cable, to the value of £14 belonging to Poundland, and a pair of silver trainers, to the value of £18 belonging to Primark were found in his possession.
All the items were returned to their rightful owners, the court was told.
