Magistrates heard that Ryan Ashton will not be covered by insurance because he was over the limit and has to pay £7,000 to finish paying for the black Vauxhall Astra that he wrote off.
Ashton, who works as a pub chef at the Corbet Arms near Shrewsbury, pleaded guilty to drink driving earlier this month.
Ashton, of Woodside Drive, Shrewsbury, was found to be nearly twice the legal limit after recording a reading of 68 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.
Prosecutor Kate Price told Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday that the 29-year-old was of previous good character.
But at 1.20am on December 1 he was involved in collision at the A5 Edgebold Roundabout and an ambulance was called.
The Astra suffered “substantial damage” and three of its four tyres were found to have deflated in the crash, she said.
