Jason Byron Johnson pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified, and with no insurance or valid test certificate when he appeared at Telford Magistrates Court.
Johnson, aged 36, of Roseleigh Road, Birmingham B45, had been driving a Citroen Berlingo on the M54 between junctions 4 and three at 4.30pm on November 18.
Kate Price, prosecuting, told the court on Tuesday that Johnson had a previous recent conviction for driving whilst disqualified and had been sentenced earlier this month.
She said the paperwork had not been sorted out in time to deal with everything when Johnson had appeared and been sentenced after pleading guilty at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on December 6.
Presiding justice Janet Whitby called Johnson's driving record “pretty horrendous”.
Magistrates confirmed an earlier sentence of a 12 month driving ban and ordered that Jonson must complete a year-long community order with the probation service.
It will involve him carrying out 80 hours of unpaid work in the community over the next year.
He was also ordered to pay a victims surcharge of £114 and £85 prosecution costs.
