Wesley Church, a disused chapel on Garth Road near the centre of Builth Wells, is currently up for sale and estimated to be worth £100,000.

Estate agents McCartneys have said that the church will be sold via informal tenders, which are to be received in writing at the agent's office before February 7, 2025.

Describing the property, McCartney’s said: “Wesley Church presents a rare opportunity to acquire a disused chapel with significant potential for conversion, subject to obtaining the necessary planning consents.

“Situated in the charming market town of Builth Wells, Powys, the chapel offers a unique opportunity in a desirable location, combining historical character with modern possibilities.

“An appealing opportunity to acquire a disused chapel located close to the town centre of Builth Wells. This property offers prospective buyers a range of potential development opportunities, subject to obtaining the necessary consents, making it an ideal investment for those seeking a unique project in a prime location.”

The chapel closed in September 2024, as it was deemed too expensive to run and the Methodist Church recommended closing the building in June 2024.

Describing some of the interior and exterior features, McCartney’s added: “This expansive main hall offers excellent potential for conversion into multiple rooms. It benefits from ample natural light and convenient access via both entrance halls and adjoining areas, providing a versatile space with countless possibilities.

“The property features a generous area surrounding the church, currently laid with chippings. This space offers versatility and could be transformed to suit a purchaser with an interest in gardening or landscaping.

“To the rear, the property benefits from a well-proportioned parking area laid to tarmacadam, capable of accommodating multiple vehicles. This practical space is easily accessible via Hospital Road, enhancing the property’s convenience and functionality.”
