Telford Magistrates Court heard that Chad Bailey had lost his 'well paid' job in construction after colleagues found out that he had been drugged up on heroin while working at building sites.
Bailey, aged 32, of Warrensway, in Telford, pleaded guilty to the assault by beating of his partner in the car park outside the Premier Shop in Southgate, Telford, on November 9, 2024.
Even though his partner wished to withdraw her allegations, the incident was caught on CCTV showing her putting him to the ground and she kicked him.
Stephen Scully, defending Bailey, told the court on Thursday that the video did not show the build up to the incident.
He said Bailey's partner had been drunk and had thrown a pumpkin at his head while they were arguing about getting more booze from the shop.
“It was just after Halloween and she threw a pumpkin at the back of his head. They were both in drink and he did not want her to have any more,” said Mr Scully.
“He told her 'you need to come home with me, there are children to look after,” he said.
“He decided that the only way to stop her was to take her to the floor and she kicked out.”
