The popular floating tourist attraction is lifted from the river once every couple of years for inspection, essential work and a tidy-up, and this year that will take place on Wednesday, February 5.
Both the Sabrina and the smaller picnic boat will be lifted onto Frankwell car park by a 250-tonne crane.
Dilwyn Jones, managing director of Sabrina Tours, commented: "Every year, the Maritime Coastguard Agency conducts inspections to ensure our operations meet stringent safety standards, and every two years, the boats are lifted out of the water for a more comprehensive assessment.
“Mechanics, welders, boat engineers, and painters will all be on hand throughout the day to ensure both boats are fully prepared for the upcoming season.
“This event has become something of a spectacle for Shrewsbury locals, who enjoy seeing the boats out of the water.
“We’re excited to welcome everyone back on board soon."
The crew are looking for people who are not afraid of hard labour to help out with cleaning, scrubbing and painting the boats, and are paying £11.50 per hour, with lunch provided.
Dilwyn added: “We need help from the local community between 7am and 7pm. Times may vary depending on progress.”
Applicants must be 18 or over to participate. They must apply in advance and attend a briefing a week prior to complete starter forms and risk assessment paperwork.
PPE and facemasks will be provided for those who do not have their own.
People are encouraged to wear comfortable and warm clothing they don’t mind getting paint on.
To apply, call 01743 369741, email info@sabrinaboat.co.uk or message the Sabrina Boat team on Facebook.
The Sabrina’s boat tour season for 2025 starts on Saturday, March 1.
