Police seize e-scooter in Telford after man makes off from officers and fails to stop

Police have seized an e-scooter in Telford after a man made off from officers and failed to stop.

West Mercia Police officer, Robert Hughes posted on the Neighbourhood Matters page reporting the incident today (Monday) in Hadley.

Officers spotted a man riding an e-scooter, and asked him to stop. But, the man continued and went onto a footpath before disappearing.

Police tracked down the individual and seized the e-scooter, and reported the man for having no insurance and driving other than in accordance with a driving licence.

The post said: "PC Rob Hughes and PCSO Hope Hartley were on patrol in Hadley when they saw a male riding an e-scooter. 

"After following for a short while, the rider was asked to stop, but did not. lights and siren had no effect as the rider failed to stop.

"The rider went onto a footpath and disappeared. PC Hughes and PCSO Hartley drove down the road and the e-scooter rider appeared and seemed surprised to see us. PC Hughes at that point detained the male. 

"After obtaining the rider's details after he initially refused, he was reported for not having insurance and driving other than in accordance with a driving licence.  The e-scooter was impounded."
