As we step into 2025, as your Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed-Powys, I am thrilled to share some of the exciting developments and opportunities awaiting us this year.

The beginning of a new year is always a time for reflection and anticipation, and this year is no exception with the launch of our new Police and Crime Plan.

The plan represents a significant step forward in our commitment to enhancing the safety and well-being of our communities.

In the new Plan, which will be launched in the coming weeks, following extensive consultation with the public and our partners, I have set out three key priorities for Dyfed-Powys Police.

These priorities are i) Supporting Victims and Preventing Victimisation; ii) Supporting Safe Communities by Preventing Harm and iii) Supporting a More Effective Justice System.

Further details will be available within the plan about these priorities and how performance will be measured, and I would like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation in its development stages last year.

I would also like to say a big thanks to everyone who took part in our precept survey.

The police precept is the portion of your council tax that goes to your local police force. Setting the police precept is always challenging, particularly during times of high inflation, rising costs, and increasing demands on our police service.

One of the highlights of our calendar this year is my annual St David’s Day Conference.

This year’s conference will focus on evidence-based policing, showcasing how research and data can inform policing strategies.

By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, we aim to promote a culture of continuous improvement and shared learning. I am confident that this conference will not only stimulate meaningful discussions but also inspire greater adoption of evidence-informed practices across our police force.

As we move forward through 2025, I look forward to working together to achieve our shared goals.

Thank you for your continued support, I eagerly anticipate the positive changes we will make in the year ahead.
