The event was hosted by longstanding supporter of the charity, Wendy Morton MP for Aldridge-Brownhills, and took place at the House of Commons.
The occasion provided Members of Parliament, including Stuart Anderson MP for South Shropshire, Mark Pritchard MP for The Wrekin, Julia Buckley MP for Shrewsbury and Shaun Davies MP for Telford, with an insight into the county’s primary air ambulance organisation.
More than 25 MPs from across the Midlands learned about the advanced clinical care, medicines and equipment brought rapidly to scene within just ten minutes, which gives those in critical need the best chance of survival and a good recovery.
They also took part in CPR demonstrations, met with two of the charity’s former patients, and found out about the region’s hospital helipad network, which is vital in enabling patients to be swiftly conveyed to the most appropriate hospital for their needs.
Hanna Sebright, chief executive for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “The event provided an opportunity to highlight our pre-hospital enhanced care service to patients across the Midlands region. We highlighted our charitable status, as the service is funded by donations, and outlined how the service adds value to the NHS by supporting the ambulance services within our operating area.
“We were honoured to welcome so many of our longstanding and supportive MPs as well as introduce ourselves to those newly elected in July’s general election. I would like to thank our MPs for attending and signing our pledge to demonstrate their support of advanced pre-hospital care in their area."
