Police and fire investigator involved after cars go up in flames on Shrewsbury estate

Two cars were severely damaged in a fire shortly after midnight last night.

Police and the fire brigade were called to Briery Lane in Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, where one car was “100 per cent destroyed”, while the other was 40 per cent damaged.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “At 12.20am on Saturday, January 11, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting a fire classified as ‘car fire' in Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury.

“Incident involved two cars, one 100 per cent involved in fire and the other 40 per cent involved in fire. 

“Crews used two breathing apparatus, two hose real jets and Holmatro cutters to extinguish the fire. Incident was left with police.”

One fire engine was sent to the scene from Shrewsbury and a fire investigation officer was also in attendance.
