Ronald Davis, of Duffryn, Telford, was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court, sitting at Telford Justice Centre, after pleading guilty to two charges - causing wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.
The court was told that the incident had taken place in July 2023, with Davis having been frustrated by a group who were drinking in a neighbouring garden late into the night.
Davis, 45, had called the police who attended, but when they arrived they deemed the group to be sitting quietly outside round a fire.
They decided no intervention was required.
But, delivering her sentence, Judge, Recorder Francesca Levett, said that the issues had continued, sparking the violent incident.
