Many people attended the Providence Baptist Church, Howey, Carol Service, on December 22 and a warm welcome was given to all.
The service was led by John Mitson, and he gave a thought-provoking talk on the true meaning of
Christmas, using as his illustration, a large inflatable Candy Cane.
The service included seasonal Scripture readings, Christmas poems, Christmas jokes, solos, a duet, and a delightful young people’s singing group.
Christmas readings were given by Lydia Brandreth, Michael Gough and Howard Nixon. Christmas poems were provided by Rachel Williams, Katie Brown, Amanda Davies Groves and Colin Mills.
Solos were sung by Oscar, Gruff, Maisie, Kelsey, Lydia, Angharad and Cerys.
A duet was sung by Kelsey and Lydia and Christmas jokes were provided by Ioan. The young people in the singing group were Eadie, Lara, Flo, Arthur, Lydia and Kelsey and Eadie, Lara, Flo and Arthur also read poems and prayers. The accompanist was Ann Mitson, and the Church was beautifully decorated by Hayley Simcock.
A vote of thanks was offered by Rachel Williams and excellent refreshments, organised by Kim Morris, were enjoyed by all present at the end of the service.
