A shortlist of names for Shrewsbury’s new riverside park in the town centre has been revealed.

Salopians were asked for ideas for the name of the park, which will be located at Smithfield Riverside after the shopping centre was flattened.
A relatively sensible selection of monikers were selected, with no room for Parky McParkface or any other jokey ideas.
The first part of the name will be either Beagle, Riverside, Salop, Drover’s, Smithfield or Origin, with the second part being either Park or Gardens.
A Shropshire Council spokesman said: “Back in November last year, we asked for suggestions for the name of the new park we are delivering as part of our plans for Smithfield Riverside.
“After considering all of the submissions, we’re excited to announce the finalists and we now need your help to pick a winner!”
