Members of the Safer Neighbourhood Team visited Whitchurch Road in the Dothill region this week to conduct a speed survey after speeding has been identified as a 'parish priority'.

Officers found an average speed within the 30mph limit. However, seven out of 100 vehicles were recorded driving in excess of 35mph.

PCSO in Wellington, Evie Dunkley said: "All drivers were notified of their speed and educated on the limit and our speed operation."

"Speed Surveys help us better understand, identify and monitor speeding concerns in our community. We have to be visible for our safety, and our high visibility presence slows drivers down, makes more people aware of police activity and reassures nearby members of the public.

"We continue to carry out speed operations in the area where we may survey, educate or enforce road traffic laws."
