The plan is for the first and second floor above Woodings & Co County Goldsmith's, which sits on the corner of the square, next to High Street.
The proposal has been submitted to Shropshire Council's planning department, and requests both full planning permission for the project, as well as listed building consent for the work.
A design and access statement outlining the proposal explains the plan for the work.
It states: "The proposal consists of the internal conversion of the first and second floors into one apartment.
"It also comprises the replacement of all the existing single pane sash windows at both first and second floors for slimline double glazed units with the style of the window to match exactly with the existing with the addition of glazing bars to match that in the local vicinity."
The plan also includes a proposal to fit a pneumatic vacuum lift in the centre of the existing spiral staircase, which would be able to carry three people or one wheelchair, to provide access for all.
An entrance door to the building which faces onto High Street is the proposed access for the apartment.
A decision on the plan will be taken at a later date.
Meanwhile the operators of a county quarry have applied for permission to extend the agreement for working at the site.
Grinshill Stone Quarries has applied to Shropshire Council for a variation of the previous planning permission for the site.
Granted back in 2013 the permission permitted the company to extract minerals from the site until December 30, 2024, with a requirement to reinstate the land by December 30, 2026.
The company has now asked for an extension until September this year to allow for it to submit a fresh application.
The quarry has been producing building stone for centuries for use important buildings in both in Shropshire and nationally.
The application, submitted by Silkstone Environmental planning consultants on behalf of the owners details how "the stone produced by the quarry is recognised as being one of the leading stones in the country in terms of quality, colour and durability".
It adds: "Due to a number of unforeseen circumstances, the quarry has seen very little activity in the last three to four years and the permission was due to expire.
"We were contacted by the operator to submit an application but with insufficient time to put a full planning application together, we have agreed with the planning authority to apply for a short extension of time of nine months to condition four until September 30, 2025, to enable a full application to be submitted in 2025."
A decision will be taken at a later date.
