South Shropshire MP throws weight behind national Energy Savers week campaign

South Shropshire MP, Stuart Anderson has thrown his weight behind Energy Savers Week that aims to raise awareness about energy efficiency, how to reduce energy bills, and how we can combat fuel poverty. 

The annual national campaign is running between January 20 and 26, and is spearheaded by Citizen's Advice in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust. 

Citizen's Advice reported that it helped almost 60,000 households who were struggling to resolve problems with their energy bills last year.

Mr Anderson has published an Energy Saver's Guide on his website that he hopes will supply Shropshire residents with useful information on how to keep energy bills as low as possible. 

He said his Energy Saver's webpage includes useful information, tips, and guidance on how residents can "make their home more energy efficient" and get the best deal from energy suppliers.

The MP added that the move is part of his mission to support local communities across South Shropshire by addressing the unique challenges of rural areas and attracting investment for community groups.

Mr Anderson said that, according to the Census, just 42 per cent of households used main gas central heating in South Shropshire, compared with a national average of 73 per cent across the country. 

He added that around 22 per cent of households used oil central heating, compared with 5 per cent nationally.

"I have designed my Energy Saver's Guide to help fellow residents save money on their energy bills. It is packed with useful information, tips, and guidance on energy tariffs, home insulation, and others ways in which to make the home more energy efficient."
