Bird flu case confirmed in Shropshire with 3km protection zone declared
A case of highly pathogenic avian influenza has been confirmed in commercial poultry at a premises in north Shropshire.

The Government confirmed on Monday (January 20) that the H5N1 strain of the disease had been detected at a premises near Wem.
"All poultry on the premises will be humanely culled," a statement said.
"A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone have been declared around the premises."
The statement added that although the premises are in England, part of the surveillance zone will extend into the Wrexham local authority area of Wales.
