Luckily the curious capybara was found and returned to the zoo after seven days of exploring the Telford countryside.

Since the escapade local author Tracey J Morgan has brought Cinnamon’s adventure to life in a new children’s book, Cinnamon’s Big Adventure, illustrated by artist Hercule Van Wolfwinkle and published by Hoo Zoo.

The book’s author and the zoo owner Will Dorrell are now inviting families to join them as they re-tell Cinnamon’s story at a special event next Saturday (February 1) at Shrewsbury Library.

The special reading of Cinnamon’s Big Adventure will start at 11am and will tell the story of what really happened when Cinnamon escaped her enclosure.

“I’m so excited to share this story with everyone, we’ve had a lot of fun imagining all the things Cinnamon could have got up to during those seven days. I feel privileged to have been able to write this for Hoo Zoo,” said Tracey.

Books will be for sale on the day.

All proceeds from book sales will go to the zoo, providing enrichment and new enclosures for the animals.
