People are being encouraged to book their place now for the Women in Business event, taking place on February 7 at The Wynnstay Hotel, from 1pm.

The event is being organised by Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors, and will feature Carrie Morris, the co-owner of Booka Bookshop, who will speak about her experiences of establishing such a successful business in Oswestry, and the opening of the second Booka shop in Bridgnorth.

Amanda Jones, marketing director at Lanyon Bowdler, which has offices in Oswestry and across Shropshire, said the networking events were open to everyone.

She said: “We launched these networking events with a difference last year, with the aim of bringing people together to make professional connections and be inspired by stories of success.

“Although this event is called Women in Business, it is very much open to everyone and we were pleased to see an excellent turnout at previous events.

“We would like to say a big thank you to Carrie Morris for joining us on February 7, when she will tell the story of one of the jewels of Oswestry town centre, Booka Bookshop.

“Formerly a primary school teacher, Carrie opened Booka with her husband Tim in October 2009, and it was named Independent Bookshop of the Year in 2015.

“Booka has built a strong reputation for organising and hosting a wide range of author events, attracting a mix of bestselling authors, celebrities and the best new writers to the shop in Oswestry and now in Bridgnorth too.

“We are very much looking forward to hearing about Carrie’s experiences which will be of interest to professionals from all industries and sectors.”

The event takes place at The Wynnstay Hotel in Oswestry from 1pm to 2.30pm on February 7. Places are free but people are advised to book in advance by visiting bit.ly/OswestryWomeninBusinessFeb2025
