The crash at the Forton roundabout on Newport's northern edge was reported at around 6.30pm today (Friday, January 31).

Emergency service crews from the Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and West Mercia Police attended.

The SFRS sent two fire engines to the scene. On arrival the firefighters found that one car had left the carriageway and come to rest in the centre of the roundabout, which connects the A41 Newport bypass with Forton.

Luckily none of the car's occupants were trapped and at 6.47pm the firefighters sent their 'stop message' indicating the incident was under control.
