Firefighters lead three-hour search for lost Jack Russell in Shropshire village

Firefighters searched for almost three hours for a lost dog this morning, but were unable to find it.

The Jack Russell was believed to have gone into a badger sett at Lee Hill, Lee Brockhurst, near Wem.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokeswoman said: “At 9.37am on Saturday (February 1) SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting an incident classified as ‘animal rescue’.

“Further assistance requested for a small dog believed to be down hole. After extensive search fire crews were unable to locate the dog.”

One fire engine was sent to the scene from Shrewsbury. Crews left the scene at 12.33pm.
