The secondary school is very proud of its history and background, being the only Coubertin school in Great Britain.
William Brookes School was awarded the prestigious status in 1997 due to its strong links with the modern Olympic Games.
Creator of the modern games, Pierre de Coubertin, visited Much Wenlock in 1890 as a guest of Dr William Penny Brookes.
The French philosopher believed in educating the whole body and mind, and after seeing the very place at the school where the Wenlock Olympian Games took place, he went on to create the modern games that are held every four years.
As you enter the modern school, situated within a beautiful location in a historic market town, you are greeted by smiling faces, but also an Olympic torch from the 2012 London Olympic Games - students were selected to be Olympic torchbearers as it travelled its way around the country.
Elsewhere, there is box office for 'The Edge' - the school's state-of-the-art theatre run by the school and volunteers in the community.
There are dance and music studios which add to the school's exceptional offering alongside its swimming pool and gym, and more recently its new 'Wellbeing' classroom which features some rabbits.
