The water company is carrying out "essential" repair works in the area which have unexpectedly affected customers' water supplies.

The problem was reported at 1.31pm and teams are onsite working to fix the issue.

A post said: "We’d like to apologise to those experiencing no supply, poor pressure or discoloured water in the TF9 area of Market Drayton this afternoon.

"Our teams are carrying out some essential repair work. Although we didn’t anticipate this affecting our customers, we are aware that some customers' supplies have now been impacted.

"The team onsite are committed to getting this resolved quickly and efficiently so the water supply is back to normal as soon as possible."

Work also continues in Telford to fix a leak, and in Shrewsbury to mend a broken pipe.

An update at 11.40am on the problems in Shrewsbury said: "We’d like to apologise to anyone experiencing poor pressure in the SY3 area of Shrewsbury. Our teams are now on site and aware of the cause and are working hard to restore your supplies as quickly and efficiently as possible."
