Shane Lock, 32, was handed a community order in October for assaulting his ex-partner following a break-up.

Lock previously admitted assault, and criminal damage.

He reappeared before magistrates in Llandrindod Wells last week, after illness prevented him attending some appointments.

Lock, of Llandegley, admitted breaching the conditions of his community order by failing to attend two unpaid work appointments, in December and January.

Probation officer Jade Price told the court that Lock, who is in full-time employment, had reported being unwell over the festive period, but had not provided medical evidence in relation to his missed appointments.

“He was suspended in January from unpaid work due to non-compliance,” said Ms Price.

She said he had completed 16 of the 100 hours he was told to do as part of the 18-month community order.

“He has not made a great start,” she added.

Mitigating, Owain Jones said: “He was very unwell in December and at the beginning of January, he was bedbound.

“His issue was not giving medical evidence to probation in good time. He understands the responsibilities associated with his order.”

Mr Jones said Lock had been handed a suspended prison sentence earlier in January, for an unrelated matter, with the judge allowing the current community order to continue.

Magistrates added 20 more hours to the unpaid work element of Lock’s order and he has to pay £60 costs.
