Llandrindod Wells Mayor organises a free community music event
A free community music event is being organised in Llandrindod Wells, paid for from the Mayor’s allowance.
Councillor Marcia Morgan said she is organising the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s music night at the Royal British Legion on Friday, March 14 for residents with free entry.
She said posters will be placed around town and on social media advertising this event.
Councillor Morgan said discussions have started regarding providing new picnic benches at the Lake from the Chair’s Allowance too.
Giving her first report of the new year, Councillor Morgan wished everyone a very happy, healthy and successful 2025.
She said she had personally received some lovely messages from residents about the Children’s Christmas Party and she thanked all the volunteers for their help, without which some of the events may not have happened.
She also thanked Deputy Mayor Councillor Paul Smith, for covering for her during her holiday last month.
On her return, Councillor Kim Nicholls and the Mayor presented the Christmas Window Competition winners with their prizes. In first place was the British Red Cross, Haydn Lewis Financial Services was second and Doves & Dandies was third.
“Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to everyone who took part, including the judges who didn’t have an easy job with all the wonderfully decorated windows to choose from,” said Councillor Morgan.
She said she had spent a lovely afternoon at the Golf Club at the Members’ Family Christmas Afternoon, which was well attended. The Town Silver Band played Christmas Carols and £200 was raised for the Welsh Air Ambulance.
The town council enjoyed a Christmas lunch at the Lakeside Restaurant and she said her last Christmas event would be representing the Town Council at the Twinning Association Christmas Lunch.
Councillor Morgan reminded everyone that there are two vacancies on the Town Council, should anyone wish to apply they should contact the Town Clerk.
Councillor Morgan said she made a donation to the Friends of Hope House in January.
