High Ercall Tennis Club, between Telford and Shawbury, applied for permission to knock down its clubhouse in December last year.

The application, submitted to Telford & Wrekin Council, stated the existing 9.9m x 7.6m clubhouse was "dilapidated" and no longer fit for purpose.

According to the planning documents, High Ercall Tennis Club had been exploring "numerous options" for its replacement for "a number of years".

The application stated: "The existing clubhouse has been in situ well beyond its original design life. Its condition has progressively deteriorated, despite various remedial works, to the point where it is no longer fit for purpose.
