The plan sets out training courses for the clerk, staff, the street sweeper and toilet cleaner as well as councillors during 2025/26.

The total cost of 12 courses for the staff including manual handling, risk assessment, health and safety in the workplace, working with hazardous substances, first aid, regular webinars and Certificate in Local Council Administration (CiLCA) for the clerk will be £1,653.

Meanwhile, 14 councillors will be expected to undertake code of conduct course, five will do a new councillor induction, and 14 will also do an equality and diversity course.

The chairman of the finance committee will do local government finance basic and advanced, the personnel committee chairman will undertake a Managing Your Staff course, the Mayor will do a chairing skills course and council meetings, which the deputy mayor will also undertake.

A finance committee member will also study local government finance, a personnel committee member will do The Council as an Employee and the chairman of the Civic Centre Committee will do a ‘Making Effective Grant Applications’ course.

The total cost of councillors’ courses will be £1,880.

Most of the courses will be online but four staff members will undertake first aid training in person.

Members of the town council recently approved the draft training plan for 2025/26.
