The Government said it was making a record investment on flood defences including an extra £2 million for work at Beales Corner in Bewdley.
It said that by March next year, 52,000 properties would be better protected from flood risks. The money will also be used for repairs and maintenance of existing flood defences, benefiting a further 14,500 properties.
But a spokeswoman for the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said she was unable to say at this stage whether any of the money would be spent in Shropshire.
She said the money for Bewdley was on top of the £6.2 million earmarked by the previous government, where work has been going on since August 2023.
It follows an announcement in the Budget that extra money would be made available to prevent flooding.
