Keith Hall, 65, from Westbury, appeared at Telford Magistrates Court after admitting one charge of causing serious injury by careless driving.
The incident took place on the approach to the Woodcote Roundabout on A5 in Shrewsbury at around 5.43pm on September 8, 2023.
Chris Coughlan, prosecuting, said that Matthew Franklin was cycling on the B4386 and was waiting properly in the left hand lane at the junction to cross the roundabout.
The court heard that Mr Franklin was an experienced cyclist who was riding a bike worth more than £8,000.
Mr Coughlan said that the roundabout was 'busier than usual' adding that it was difficult to proceed with cars accelerating to cross.
Hall, who was driving a Mercedes Sprinter van, had pulled up behind the cyclist at the junction.
