Voting open to name spots on Telford Monopoly board - here's where I think should get a spot on the board
Telford has been chosen from a shortlist of ten places across the UK to get its own version of Monopoly.

From today (Thursday, February 6), Telfordians are being given two weeks to send in suggestions for landmarks and organisations to be featured in the game.
Those wishing to have their say are asked to email telford@winningmoves.co.uk by 11.59pm on February 19.
For several weeks now, I've been quietly sat on the news that my beloved hometown is getting its own version of what is arguably the world’s most popular board game, and it's given me plenty of time to think about where I think the powers-that-be should put some of our landmarks.
And while this might seem terribly self-indulgent (it is), this is my appeal to locals to send those emails and make sure the latest edition of Monopoly accurately reflects this wonderful town.
Now, to the self-indulgence.
I don't think Mr Monopoly will be open to the idea of swapping out the train stations for roundabouts (though, if he's reading, Clock Tower, Trench Lock, Castlefields and Limekiln Bank would be my personal requests).
In the little information we have so far it seems that the four train station spots are to be given the wider theme of 'transport' and could therefore include bus stations or (as suggested by the company) the River Severn.
If that's the way Winning Moves UK are going, then I'd argue the fourteen-mile Silkin Way is a must (although should I have the ear of Big Monopoly, you bet I'll be expressing the importance of our roundabouts).
It also seems that the green spaces are going to be given to... well, our green spaces. Telford Town Park has already been suggested as taking up one of the spots, so it seems only logical that the Wrekin is also featured.
That leaves the many other beautiful spots (let it not be forgotten that Telford has 20 local nature reserves) to fight it out for the last square. Personally, I'd put up a pretty good fight for Apley Woods.
The yellow section has been dubbed the 'showbiz' section, with Winning Moves suggesting Telford Theatre take up one of the spots where the original showcases London's West End. Now I'm ashamed to say I'm struggling to work out what other 'showbiz' the town can boast... the International Centre? QEII Arena? Someone help me out.
Now, there's always a bit of shame when it comes to the brown squares on the board - they're the cheapest and generally regarded as the rubbish spots. So here's what I'd like to see there:
Old Kent Road was important in Roman times - it linked London to the coast at Richborough and Dover via Canterbury. It only seems fitting that Holyhead Road - that follows much of the old Roman road from London to Wroxeter via Redhill, Oakengates and Wellington - be given the same honour.
I'd argue that the Eastern Primary (EP) take the place of Whitechapel Road rather than make a stab at where in Telford should be given the honour of one of the cheapest places on the board. Not only is Whitechapel in London generally referred to as the East End, but it's also a major arterial road.
