On Thursday (February 6) Robert Stanislaw Ligus of Hawkstone Road, Shrewsbury, admitted stealing two bank cards from a car last December, as well as a pair of headphones.
The court heard that Ligus then went on to use the bank cards, as well as two others that did not belong to him, four times in early December when he bought around £200 of items from a number of shops in Shropshire, and he pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud as well as one of theft.
Ligus is the son of Robin Ligus, who was jailed for life in 1996 for the murder of pensioner Robert Young, during a burglary in 1994.
The former Shropshire painter and decorator was moved to a psychiatric hospital in 2011 after a jury found he had also killed Trevor Bradley and Brian Coles in the same year. He died on December 16, 2022 while in custody at hospital.
