Whitchurch's new £14 million swimming pool and fitness centre to open ahead of schedule

Shropshire Council has announced that the new Whitchurch Swimming and Fitness Centre will open on Wednesday, March 19.
The state-of-the-art facility has been completed ahead of schedule and on budget, according to the county council.
It has taken just more than 12 months from the demolition of the previous centre to build the new facility.
The north Shropshire town's old facilities were demolished in January last year after the council concluded that having a new centre would be the most viable and cost-effective way to replace the previous facility, which had not been able to open since March 2020 when defects were found in the pool’s structure.
Final touches are being completed at the new £14m centre which includes a six-lane 25 metre swimming pool, accessible changing rooms, a 41-station fitness suite and multi-function rooms.
