Lidl first submitted a planning application for a new supermarket on the site of a former colliery between the Old Park Roundabout and Rock Road in August 2021.
The plans proved contentious, with the opinions of residents and consultees split on whether or not the new store was a good idea.
Those opposed to the plans included the owners of the Telford Centre shopping complex, who argued the store's proposed location out of town was "significantly undermining the vitality and viability of Telford town centre".
Some neighbours weighed in too, arguing that Rock Road was unsuitable for the development and another supermarket wasn't needed in the area.
