Car fire damages house and fence in Telford

A car that caught fire outside a Telford home has damaged the property and its fence, fire crews have said.

The fire in Sandcroft in Telford saw Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service attend around 10.50pm.

A spokesperson said: "One saloon vehicle involved was in fire which has affected the exterior or a domestic building as well as fencing. Crews used two hose reel jets and one covering jet to extinguish whilst wearing breathing apparatus."

The spokesperson added that police were also in attendance at the property.

The incident was declared over at 11.50pm.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a report of a vehicle fire on Sandcroft in Telford at around 11.15pm on Sunday, February 9. Enquiries are now on-going to determine the cause."
