Russell Barton, aged 52, was found in a Vauxhall Corsa in Frankwell car park, Shrewsbury after police were alerted by a member of the public on the evening of December 30 last year.
Telford Magistrates Court was told that Barton gave a positive roadside breath test before being arrested.
In custody he blew a low reading of 110 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - more than three times the legal limit in England and Wales of 35mcg.
